Sanctions against Iran will not affect the swapped Azerbaijani gas supplies for the Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic, neither will they affect the power interchange between Azerbaijan and Iran, Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said at a meeting with members of the Caspian European Integration Business Club (CEIBC) on Wednesday.

"Volumes of energy supplies to Iran are small and are not commercial in nature. The importance concerns the supplies for the Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic, located in the blockade," Aliyev said.

In this regard, he said, no sanctions should affect supplies from Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan supplies gas to Nakhchivan via Iran. In addition, electricity is supplied to Iran in return for its electricity supply to the Nakhichivan Autonomous Republic.

Azerbaijan supplies about 350 million cubic meters of gas annually to Iran to send to Nakhchivan.
