Azerbaijani energy operator ups electricity generation

Azerenergy, which deals with power generation and distribution in Azerbaijan, produced about 4.3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in January-February 2012 compared to 3.6 billion kilowatt-hours during the same period of 2011, the company's website reported on Tuesday.

According to the report, over 3.9 billion of the total volume of generated electricity accounted for thermal power plants, about 0.4 billion kilowatt hours accounted for hydropower plants.

During this period, electricity overflow was carried out with Russia, Iran and Turkey.

Capacity of power plants owned by Azerenergy is more than 6,000 megawatts. The JSC has more than 200 substations with a capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kilovolts, as well as six hydropower plants and 13 thermal power plants on its balance.
