Work on Baku White City project intensified

JSC Ekol Muhendislik Xidmetleri has cleared 835 000 cubic metres of oil-contaminated land from Feb. 2010 to the present, as part of a project to create a White City on the area of Black city, the company said in Tuesday.
Works are being implemented at the Green Island area which is also included in White City project.
According to information received, 15 hectares of the project area were cleared from the oil spill during the aforementioned period.
More than 57,000 cubic metres of oil-contaminated land was taken out in January and Feb. 2012. 'The project work is continuing apace,' the statement said.
The urban development project Baku White City, which claims to be the new modern centre of Baku, is being developed in accordance with the Decree of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who approved a plan of comprehensive measures to improve the ecological situation in Azerbaijan.
Such world famous companies as Atkins, Foster + Partners (UK) and F + A Architects (USA) have been involved in the work on the Baku White City project alongside Azerbaijani specialists.
