Iraq ups oil exports in March

In March, Iraq exported 71.8 million barrels of oil compared to 58.4 million barrels of oil in February, Iraqi Oil Ministry representative Asym Jihad told Trend on Monday.

Some 59.4 million barrels of the total exports accounted for Basra, while 12.4 million barrels for Kirkuk.

Iraq received a profit of $8.4 billion in March compared to $6.595 billion in February from total oil exports. An average oil price in March hit $118 per barrel, Jihad said.

According to BP, Iraq's proven oil reserves as of early 2011 amounted to 115 billion barrels. The country ranks third in OPEC after Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The major oil fields of Iraq are Rumaila, Zubair, Nahr Umr, Majnoon and West Qurna in south of the country.
