The consortium of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field development waits for the formal submission from the projects on Central European pipeline route by May 16, BP's Vice President for Shah Deniz Development Alasdair Cook said. The interview with Cook is published on Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) official website.

"For this route we are currently considering two options - SEEP (South East Europe Pipeline) and Nabucco West, a new proposal has been recently provided by Nabucco. We are pleased to see the continued progress of these options and are waiting for formal submissions from them by May 16," Cook said.

He added that this will enable consortium to make a fully informed decision for Central European route in June.

"Once that has been done, we'll then work with the winner of the Central European route and TAP to develop these projects further. We expect to make a final route selection ahead of mid-2013," he said.

Currently the consortium is considering options to export gas to the southern and central Europe, which include Nabucco West and SEEP. The pipeline route to this direction will be selected by late June, 2012. The final decision on a pipeline route to export Azerbaijani gas to the European markets is expected in 2013.

Earlier, in February, Shah Deniz consortium excluded ITGI from the list of those being considered to export Azerbaijani gas to the European countries, and made TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) a priority route for export of Azerbaijani gas to Italy.

Cook added that TAP was chosen as the southern route because it met the technical, commercial and other requirements best. "We have been especially pleased by the level of openness and cooperation we have seen from TAP. This helps build trust," he said.
