Nabucco Gas Pipeline International is working on a formal proposal to be submitted to the consortium of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field development by mid May.
"We are confident to submit the most convincing proposal: technically, legally and commercially," Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH spokesman, Christian Dolezal told Trend.
Earlier BP's Vice President for Shah Deniz Development Alasdair Cook said that the Shah Deniz consortium waits for the formal submission from the projects on Central European pipeline route - Nabucco West and South East Europe Pipeline West (SEEP) by May 16. According to Cook, the proposals will enable consortium to make a fully informed decision for Central European route in June.
The final decision on a pipeline route to export Azerbaijani gas to the European markets is expected in 2013.
According to Dolezal, the chances of Nabucco project to be implemented are the best among other Southern Gas Corridor projects.
"Nabucco offers freedom of choice for all countries involved and has therefore the best chances to be realized," Dolezal said.
Nabucco Gas Pipeline project is designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and Middle East to the European countries. Nabucco West is a new conception, which was proposed by Nabucco consortium, and according to which the pipeline will be laid from the Turkish-Bulgarian border to the Austrian Baumgarten.
Proposed by BP SEEP envisages gas transportation through existing or expanded infrastructure of Turkey to the Balkan Peninsula, and then the distribution of 10 billion cubic meters to small buyers, including Greece, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia and others via the existing gas pipelines system.
