As of July 1, 2012, the number of gas customers in Azerbaijan exceeds 1.4 million people, Azerigas Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) told Trend on Monday.
As the source said, by implementing a program on gasification, which is planned to be completed next year, the number of subscribers will further increase. Within the program on gasification and improvement the country's gas supply level is projected to reach 90 percent.
Over 632,100 of the total number of gas customers accounted for Baku and the remaining about 771,000 accounted for the remaining regions of the country, the source said.
Azerigas Production Association deals with issues of gas transportation and sale on the territory of Azerbaijan.
