SOCAR starts choice of licensees in frame of new processing facility

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has launched a choice of licenses for the facilities within technological scheme of the new complex for processing of oil and gas production and petrochemical products (OGPC) in Azerbaijan, SOCAR said on Monday.

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has launched a choice of licenses for the facilities within technological scheme of the new complex for processing of oil and gas production and petrochemical products (OGPC) in Azerbaijan, SOCAR said on Monday.

The first coordination meeting with the company FLUOR, which will choose companies licensors, was held under the leadership of Vice-President of SOCAR on Strategic Development Tofig Gahramanov for that purpose

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, the State Oil Fund of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes, National Academy of Sciences, Department of Project OGPC, and other departments and enterprises of SOCAR, the joint venture of SOCAR-Foster Wheeler Muhendis Xidmetleri, as well as independent consultants.

It is planned to install more than 40 processing plants in accordance with the technological scheme of the complex and more than 25 of these facilities require licenses. Axens, CB & I, Chevron, Dow, DuPont, İneos, KBR, Linde, LyondellBasell, Shell, Technip, UOP and other companies will be considered as a potential licensors.

The complex includes the construction a petrochemical company, a refinery with a capacity of ten million tons per year, as well as gas processing plant with capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year.

The complex will be located on 1,500 hectares 60 kilometers from Baku. The entire OGPC complex is scheduled to open by the end of 2020.
