Turkey ups gas imports by over 2 bcm in Jan.-June

In January-June, the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas imported 21.8 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources compared to 19.44 billion cubic meters in January-June 2011, the Botas official website reported today.

Turkey also imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).

In 2011, the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas imported more than 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources compared to about 32.5 billion cubic meters in 2010.

Some 287 million cubic meters of gas fell to Botas's export operations in January-June compared to 363 million cubic meters during the same period of 2011. Some 726 million cubic meters of gas fell to export operations in 2011 compared to 660 million cubic meters in 2010.

About 21.13 billion cubic meters of gas were sold in January-June 2012 on the Turkish domestic market compared to 19.24 billion during the same period of 2011.

About 39.4 billion cubic meters of gas were sold on the Turkish domestic market in 2011 compared to about 31.5 billion cubic meters in 2010.
