President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov allowed the Ministry of Railway Transport of the country to conclude contracts with the British companies to supply specialized cars, an official Turkmen source said on Thursday.

The matter is buying 200 specialized wagons for transportation of petroleum products from Breyk Taim Club LLP Company and 300 special wagons for transportation of cement and mineral fertilizers from Stock Plaza LLP.

The document was signed in order to implement the tasks assigned to the rail industry of the country, further strengthening the material-technical base of industry, as well as improving the quality of transportation of cement, fertilizers and petroleum products.

The head of state signed the order and stressed that the availability of modern transport and communication infrastructure is an indispensable factor in the successful socio-economic development and expansion of mutually beneficial international cooperation. The General Plan of the industry development was approved earlier this year.

Turkmenistan with Iran and Kazakhstan carries out a major project for the construction of the railway North-South, the implementation of which will open the European and Asian way to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf by the shortest and economically advantageous route.

On the other hand, a similar opportunity appears also for transit of goods from countries in South and Southeast Asia, from the shores of the Indian Ocean to the countries of Northern and Eastern Europe - through Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
