Oil spill occurs again from old pipes in the settlement of Bartshana in Batumi.
Special services are directed to the scene, the broadcaster 25-channel reported on Tuesday.
Leaking of oil out of the river Bartshana to the sea is prevented and all the necessary measures are taken, head of the Security Service of nature of Batumi Oleg Bolkvadze told reporters.
"Currently the volume and cause of oil spill is defined, but it's safe to say that it is the next spill from the old pipeline, which now does not work, but oil spill occurs from there from time to time." he said.
Bolkvadze noted that this case doesn't relate to the activities of the Batumi oil terminal.
There are many pipes on the place of the former refinery, which for decades accumulate oil, he said.
"It is necessary to open land in a large area, to discover old pipes and clean the area from oil in order to completely resolve this problem, and it requires is very costly," Bolkvadze said.
