SOCAR is considering British BP's proposal to hold a comprehensive study of a shallow part of the Absheron Peninsula coastal zone, SOCAR first vice president on geophysics, geology and mining Khoshbakht Yusifzade said at the opening of the scientific and practical conference 'New technologies in oil and gas extraction' in Baku today. He added that the proposal aims at discovering additional oil resources.
"At present, BP's proposal is being considered by SOCAR," Yusifzade said.
He added that drilling operations of the first exploration well in the perspective offshore structure of Goshadash are underway within the research of Mesozoic deposits. At present, the well was drilled to 1400 metres of the projected 3500 metres.
