SOCAR starts construction of carbamide plant in Georgia

Laying ceremony of a carbamide plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Kulevi Free Industrial Zone (FIZ) (in western Georgia) will be held on Sept.18, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters on Monday.
The laying ceremony of the new enterprise in Kulevi will be attended by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
Abdullayev said all the work within the construction of the carbamide plant in Georgia will be conducted in parallel with the work to establish a similar enterprise in the city of Sumgait.
At present, tender procedure to select a contractor for the construction of a carbamide plant in Sumgait is nearing completion, he said. Construction work is scheduled to begin late 2012.
"Company, which will be winner of the tender, will also work to establish a new processing plant in Georgia," Abdullayev said.
