Iran to increase electricity exports to Turkey

Electricity exports from Iran to Turkey will increase by Jan.1, 2013, Turkish the Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EPDK) website reported on Wednesday.

Export by power lines Baskale-Khoy will be increased from 250 MW to 300 MW in September-October. In November-December 2012, export of electricity will be increased up to 400 MW.

Earlier a report of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) said that electricity consumption in July 2012 increased by 8.4 percent compared to July 2011, amounting to 22.8 billion kilowatt per hour.

During this period, Turkey imported 596 million kilowatt/hour.

During the period from January to June 2012 power generation in Turkey increased by 8.1 percent, amounting to 141.4 billion kilowatt/hour compared to the same period in 2011.
Imports of electricity to Turkey in the first half-year amounted to 2.9 billion kilowatt/hour.

Power consumption increased by 8.2 percent during the reporting period compared to the same period of 2011 and amounted to 144 billion kilowatt/hour.
