New SOCAR shipyard to be commissioned in 2014

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to put into operation a new shipyard in 2014, head of SOCAR strategic development department Ramiz Aliyev said at the sixth Caspian Oil and Gas Trading and Transportation Conference in Baku on Monday.

He said that the new shipyard will construct different types of craft, from service vessels to tankers. It will be possible to repair and reconstruct old ships at the shipyard.

Currently, SOCAR continues implementing various projects in Azerbaijan and abroad, Aliyev said. In particular work is underway at a refinery establishment in Turkey.

SOCAR is actively working to create a network of filling stations. In particular, work is underway to expand the network of filling stations in Georgia, Ukraine and Romania.

Aliyev said that SOCAR has a network of filling stations in Azerbaijan and other countries.

"New stations are being constructed in Azerbaijan," he said. "Three more filling stations are planned to be put into operation by late 2012."
