Turkey increases oil imports by 44 percent for month

Oil imports into Turkey have increased by 44 percent to 2.09 million tons in August 2012, its Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) said in a report on Tuesday.

Oil imports in January-August 2012 increased by 4.3 percent compared to the same period in 2011, amounting to 12.7 million tones.

Imports of diesel fuel in August rose by 11.3 percent and amounted to 803,000 tons.

Diesel fuel imports increased by 5.8 percent during the eight months compared to the same period in 2011 - up to 5.851 million tons.

Exports of gasoline from Turkey rose by 46.6 percent to 238 tons in August, of aviation fuel - by 40 percent - to 343 million tons, marine fuel - 48.1 percent - up to 142 thousand tons.

Exports of gasoline increased by 1.5 percent in the period from January to August 2012 compared to the same period in 2011, reaching 1.6 million tons. Export of aviation fuel for the period increased by 24.3 percent to 1.5 million tons, the export of marine fuel increased by 37 percent to 1.5 million tons.
