Memorandum on solar power park creation signed in Kazakhstan

Memorandum on cooperation in the development and construction of solar power park was signed between the administration of Zhambyl region, Kazatomprom JSC and KEGOC JSC, the statement of Kazatomprom said on Tuesday.

Memorandum on cooperation in the development and construction of solar power park was signed between the administration of Zhambyl region, Kazatomprom JSC and Kegoc JSC, the statement of Kazatomprom said on Tuesday.

"The signing of this memorandum is the first step in implementation of practical steps to ensure the sustainable growth of Kazakhstan's economic development by increasing the share of renewable and alternative sources of energy," the statement said.

According to Kazatomprom report, this project will become the practical implementation of the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiatives on the Green Bridge partnership programme and global environmental energy strategy.

The memorandum envisages construction of a park of solar power plants with unit capacity of 20 MW each using domestic solar modules in the Zhambyl region.

The administration of Zhambyl region provides organizational and technical support for the project.

Kazatomprom will ensure the production and supply of key components of solar power - solar modules that meet the requirements of the international quality certificates.

KEGOC JSC will assist obtaining technical conditions for connection to the grid and the organizational and technical assistance to the project.

Natural and climatic conditions of Zhambyl region has significant energy potential for the use of renewable energy sources and construction of solar power plants, wind power plants and small hydroelectric plants.
