The Iranian Energy Bourse will start trial operation on Tuesday, the chief bourses and markets supervisor at the Bourse Organization said on Monday.
Energy Bourse will come on stream by the ned of current Iranian calendar year (March 19), the IRIB News Agency quoted Mohammad Reza Khajenasiri as saying.
On May 6, Mirfattah Fattah-Qarabagh, the managing director of Electricity Network Management Company, stated that ground is prepared to inaugurate the energy bourse with the focus on electricity.
"Although the electricity market is a competitive one, a large number of power plants are still state-run which by being ceded to the private sector they will also enter this competitive market," he explained.
He said some 50 percent of electricity transactions will be made via Energy Bourse by 2013.
On June 23, Managing Director Shapour Mohammadi said Iran will begin transactions at its energy bourse by the next five months.
He stressed that electricity and every other product, except for petrochemicals, will be transacted in the bourse.
"Products from other countries can also be sold there," he said.
