Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Dec. 8 /Trend H. Hasanov/
Ashgabat will host the Turkmen-Romanian business forum, which will consider the feasibility of new investment projects on December 14, the Turkmen government said on Saturday.
Delegates of state organizations and companies involved in health care, construction, energy, industry, oil and gas industry will participate in the event from the Romanian side.
Turkmenistan will be presented by the leadership of a number of ministries and departments, as well as the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
Such forums are aimed at establishing direct business contacts and increasing bilateral trade, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said at a government meeting.
"Berdymuhamedov addressed issues of implementation of previous agreements in several key areas and the possibility of the implementation of new investment projects in the context of the development of the Turkmen-Romanian cooperation" the statement said.
The two countries are interested in cooperation in the energy field.
Experts believe that the route to Europe through the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan becomes more and more attractive for Turkmenistan in the depths of which there are fourth-largest natural gas reserves in the world (after Russia, Iran and Qatar).
Turkmenistan has shown interest in Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector (AGRI) pipeline in the spring, which provides Caspian gas in liquid form to Europe via Azerbaijan, the Black Sea coast of Georgia to Romania.
Turkmenistan and Romania are also discussing the possibility of a joint project to build a new Eurasian transport corridor.
Thus, the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan is exploring options for transportation of liquefied gas to the Romanian port of Constanta.
Supply route involves the use of special containers and runs across the Caspian Sea to Baku, then by rail to Batumi and Poti. A similar scheme can be applied in relation to other goods from Turkmenistan, which can be transported by containers.
