UAE to cut procurement of oil products from Iran

Emirates National Oil Company ENOC decided to make a partial reduction of the procurement of oil products from Iran, the Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Emirates National Oil Company ENOC decided to make a partial reduction of the procurement of oil products from Iran, the Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The company intends to replace Iranian oil products with the equivalent from Qatar. For this purpose ENOC signed an agreement with the Qatari company for the marketing of oil products.

Under the agreement, ENOC will purchase 20,000 barrels of oil products per day from Qatar.

The newspaper reported that UAE was a major importer of Iranian oil products. The country imported about 20 per cent of the total demand for oil products from Iran which makes up about 130,000 barrels of oil per day.

It is also reported that ENOC had actually decided to reduce purchase of oil products from Iran under U.S. pressure.
