The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) (excluding joint ventures and operating companies) drilled 10,629 metres in January 2013 compared to 10,739 in January 2012, SOCAR said on Thursday.
According to the report, 9320 meters of the total amount of SOCAR's drilling in January accounted for operational drilling, while 1309 metres was exploratory drilling.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) (excluding joint ventures and operating companies) drilled 136,400 metres in 2012 compared to 147,300 metres in 2011. SOCAR drilled 136,300 metres in 2010. In 2009 the company drilled 168,200 metres compared to about 203,000 in 2008. In 2007, the figure was 190,400.
SOCAR includes production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea), Production Association Azerkimya (chemical industry) and production association Azerigas (gas distribution).
SOCAR participates in large projects such as the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil and gas fields and gas-condensate field Shah Deniz in the Caspian Sea together with foreign partners.
