Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said that his country will continue buying oil and gas from Iran, IRNA reported.
He rejected any news about banning oil and gas imports from Iran, saying that Ankara will not be faced with any kind of sanction for importing Iranian oil and gas.
Iran's Deputy Oil Minister for Gas Affairs Javad Owji said in December that the country's daily gas exports to Turkey have for the first time topped 31 million cubic meters (mcm).
The official added that under an agreement between Tehran and Ankara, the Islamic Republic should export up to 30 mcm per day of gas to its north-western neighbor.
US officials are concerned that Turkey's gold sales, which allow Iran to export natural gas, provides a financial lifeline to Tehran, which is largely frozen out of the global banking system by Western sanctions imposed over its nuclear programme.
Turkey will not be swayed by US sanctions pressure to halt gold exports to Iran but Tehran's demand for the metal may fall this year, Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan said, Reuters reported.
