United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of Turkmenistan's largest trading partners confirmed by the annual increase in bilateral trade, media of Turkmenistan reported on Monday.
Since 2006, the volume of bilateral trade which then stood at $267 million, increased by more than four times and in 2012 amounted to 1 billion 423 million dollars, the state information service Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary said.
Only compared to 2011, which is $895 million, turnover rose by 59 per cent last year. This means the UAE ranks sixth in the total turnover of Turkmenistan.
According to the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan, on January 1, 2013, 54 enterprises with the participation of the UAE have been registered in Turkmenistan. Currently, UAE companies implemented 96 projects worth $5 billion 274 million, 590,000 euros and two million manat.
A joint cooperation committee operates between the two countries whose first meeting was held in November last year in Abu Dhabi and was supported by agreements in trade, oil and gas, energy, agriculture, transport and communication sectors.
