Turkey confirms privatization of country's four electricity distribution networks

The Turkish Supreme Council for Privatization has confirmed the privatization of the country’s four electricity distribution networks earlier put up for sale, the state agency for privatization of Turkey (OIB) reported on Monday.

The Turkish Supreme Council for Privatization has confirmed the privatization of the country's four electricity distribution networks earlier put up for sale, the state agency for privatization of Turkey (OIB) reported on Monday.

Following distribution networks have been put up for privatization: Bogazici network (serving the European side of Istanbul), Akdeniz network (provinces of Antalya, Burdur and Isparta) Gediz network (provinces of Izmir and Manisa) and Aras network (serving the provinces of Erzurum, Agri, Ardahan, Bayburt, Erzincan, Kars and Igdir).

According to the report, Bogazici electricity distribution network was privatized for $ 1.9 billion, Akdeniz - for $546 million, Gediz - for $ 1.2 billion and Aras - for $ 128 million.

At this point four more electricity distribution networks are exposed for privatization in Turkey: İstanbul Anadolu Yakası Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş (power distribution network of the Anatolian side of Istanbul), Dicle Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş, Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş and Vangölü Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş.

Anadolu Yakası Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş and Toroslar Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş networks will be offered for sale for $ 25 million each, Dicle Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş - $ 10 million, Vangölü Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş - $5 million.
