The Kazakh government must approve the energy development concept-2030 by autumn 2013, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Isekeshev said in an exclusive interview with Trend on Tuesday.
"The joint working group of our ministry and the KAZENERGY Association is developing the concept of developing the country's energy till 2030," he said. "A final version will be submitted to the government to be approved and adopted by the autumn 2013."
He said the concept will include key directions for the industry and the country's economy.
"The document must include specific tasks for the period till 2030 and accurate answers to the following questions: What to do with the generation? Where must be new power plants be built? What technologies must be used? What must one do with the regional economic commissions? How must energy machine building be developed?"
Isekeshev said the need to develop Kazakhstan's Concept of Energy Development-2030 has been associated with the country's global challenges.
"We face new challenges, including further joining of the WTO, the transition to a 'green economy' for sustainable development of the national economy by 2050, increasing the competitiveness by using new technologies. All this requires a complex analysis and development of new directions."
