According to April 4 data, 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas were extracted from the underground gas storage system of Azerbaijan, a source from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) that has the storages on its balance told Trend on Thursday.

There are 2 underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan, Kalmaz and Garadagh.

According to the source, 1.04 billion cubic meters of gas were extracted from Garadagh gas storage, and 759.3 cubic meters from Kalmaz gas storage.

There are 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas in both underground gas storages at the moment, including 787.45 million cubic meters in Garadagh gas storage, and the rest in Kalmaz.

Rather, more than 5 million cubic meters of gas per day are extracted from the storage facilities now.

Despite the gas consumption reduction, there is still demand in gas extraction from the facilities, so the extraction is being continued, the source said.

On the results of the pumping season, the volume of gas in underground gas storages of the country amounted to about 3.3 billion cubic meters, compared to about 3.25 billion cubic meters by the end of the last season. 2.11 billion cubic meters of gas were pumped to the storages last year.
