SOCAR completes drilling of another well in Umid field

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) completes the drilling of new wells in the Umid gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the company’s first vice-president of geology, geophysics and field development Khoshbaht Yusufzadeh told reporters on Saturday.

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) completes the drilling of new wells in the Umid gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the company's first vice-president of geology, geophysics and field development Khoshbaht Yusufzadeh told reporters on Saturday.

According to him, some 6,000 meters of the projected 6,450 meters have been drilled in the well.

SOCAR is already shipping gas and condensate from the first well in this field to the land.

According to SOCAR experts, the amount of the reserves amounts to more than 200 billion cubic meters of gas and 40 million tons of condensate according to the results of drilling of the first exploration well.

The Umid Field is located 75 kilometers from Baku. In 1953 the first geophysical work was carried out there. Operations were first conducted there in 1972 in an improved form. From 1977 to 1992, nine wells were drilled with negative results.
