Kazakhstan's National Atomic Company Kazatomprom opened a representative office in the United States, the national company's press service reported on Friday
"Kazatomprom's representative office is being opened in the United States in order to increase the share of the sales on the U.S. uranium market, as well as to establish and maintain direct regular contact with all end-users of uranium in this country," the report says.
According to the report, Kazatomprom's representative office in the United States also will promote projects for entering the sales of products of the nuclear fuel cycle (NFC) of higher conversion. In addition, the company has plans of the development of cooperation projects with its U.S. partners on the markets of beryllium, tantalum, and other products manufactured by enterprises of "Kazatomprom".
A conference was held on the occasion of the opening of the representative offices of JSC 'NAC 'Kazatomprom'' in Washington, DC in the United States. It was attended by representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy and the US-Kazakhstan Business Association, as well as representatives of leading energy companies, operators, owners of U.S. nuclear power plants , partner companies of JSC 'NAC 'Kazatomprom'' in the field of nuclear fuel cycle and trading companies operating in the uranium market: Exelon Generation, Dominion Generation, Duke Energy Corp., Constellation Energy Nuclear Croup, Entergy Services, PSEG Nuclear LLC, ITOCHU, USEC Inc., URENCO Inc., Westinghouse Electric Co.
JSC 'NAC 'Kazatomprom'' is the national operator of Kazakhstan for the export of uranium and its compounds, rare metals, nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, special equipment, technologies and double-use materials. Principal activities of the company are geological exploration, uranium production, the manufacturing of nuclear fuel cycle products, the production of construction materials, energy, science, social welfare and personnel training.
