According to data of July 8, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has pumped 1.08 billion cubic meters of gas into Azerbaijan's underground gas storages since the beginning of the season, a source at SOCAR told Trend on Monday.

Azerbaijan has two underground gas storages at Kalmaz and Garadagh.

According to him, 633.11 million cubic meters of gas was pumped into the Garadagh gas storage and 451.24 million cubic meters to the Kalmaz gas storage since the beginning of the season.

"Currently, nearly 2.56 billion cubic meters of gas, 1.41 million of which is concentrated in Garadagh and more than 1.14 million cubic meters in Kalmaz gas storage, is accumulated in underground gas storages of Azerbaijan," the source said.

Also according to the source, more than 8.6 million cubic meters of gas is pumped into the underground gas storages of Azerbaijan on a daily basis, 1.9 million cubic meters of which is accumulated in Garadagh and more than 6.7 million cubic meters at the Kalmaz gas storage facility.

Generally, according to the results of the selection season, the residual gas volumes have exceeded 1.47 billion cubic meters, approximately 780 million cubic meters in Garadagh and 697.03 million cubic meters in Kalmaz.

The capability of the country's underground gas storages offers the opportunity to store 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.

According to the outcome of the last pumping season, the volume of gas in underground gas storages of the country is estimated at approximately 3.3 billion cubic meters in comparison to approximately 3.5 billion cubic meters according to the results of the previous season. In particular 2.11 billion cubic meters of gas was pumped to the storage sites last year.
