Azerbaijan, Baku, July 11 / Trend E. Ismayilov /
Energy resources must not be a cause of competition and confrontation. They must serve to develop regional and international cooperation, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Abbasov said at a meeting with a delegation of the European Parliament in Baku today.
According to the deputy minister, choosing the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project as a route of supplying Azerbaijani gas to the EU will change the energy map of Europe, as well as open up new opportunities for cooperation.
"Azerbaijan's proven gas reserves exceed 2.6 trillion cubic meters," he said. "This will create conditions for our country to become a major gas supplier to international markets for the next 10 years," Abbasov said.
According to him the large revenues obtained by the country from the production and sale of hydrocarbons are directed towards developing industry, agriculture, tourism, the military, education, social and other sectors.
A delegation participating at the meeting at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Industry and Energy, includes Mario David (Portugal), Rachida Dati (France), Filip Kaczmarek (Poland) and other representatives of the European Parliament.
