The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has started drilling the second exploration well at "Goshadash", the company reported on Friday.
The design depth of the well, the drilling of which is carried out in Mesozoic sediments, will reach 3,500 meters. It is being drilled from "Khazar-6" jack-up rig.
The main objective of the drilling is to evaluate oil and gas Mesozoic deposits in the examined area.
"Goshadash" is in the north-western part of the Absheron archipelago, 15 kilometers from the coast, 35-40 kilometers away from Baku. The water depth is 10-50 m.
