In 2012 the consumption of electricity in Azerbaijan amounted to 19 billion kilowatts/hour compared to 15.51 billion kilowatts/hour in 2011, a report posted on the website of Azerbaijan's State Statistical Committee said.
In 2012, the country produced some 21.3 billion kilowatts/hour of electricity compared to about 20 billion kilowatts/hour in the same period of 2011.
The volume of electricity consumption in the country in 2010 amounted to about 14.4 billion kilowatts/hour which is almost the same as in 2009, the report said.
Furthermore, according to the State Statistical Committee, some 9.41 billion cubic meters of gas was consumed in Azerbaijan in 2012 versus nearly nine billion cubic meters of gas in 2011.
In 2010, the gas consumption in the country amounted to 8.2 billion cubic meters compared to 8.6 billion cubic meters in 2009.
Gas production in 2012 amounted to 17.24 billion cubic meters excluding associated gas which is 5.4 percent more than in 2011.
