Georgia imported about 693,960 tons of natural gas from Azerbaijan which amounted to $119.01 million in first six months of 2013, the GruzStat (Georgian National Statistical Service) reported.
According to the report, in total, Georgia imported about $44.43 million worth of natural gas in January-June, 2013. Azerbaijan is the main supplier of this kind of fuel to the country with a specific weight of 82.46 per cent of Georgia's total volume of imports in this category.
In an annual calculation, the volume of natural gas imported by Georgia from Azerbaijan increased by 17.9 per cent (quantitatively - by 9.79 per cent or 61,890 tons). By comparison Georgia imported around 632,071 tons of hydrocarbons from Azerbaijan in first six months of 2012 which amounted to $101.01million.
The specific weight of natural gas and other gases amounted to 43.6 per cent in the volume of imports from Azerbaijan during the reported period.
Georgia imported around $273.16 million worth of products from Azerbaijan in the first six months of 2013 which is 15.3 per cent lower compared to the same period of 2012.
