Iranian Energy Ministry’s debts reach some $12 billion

Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahamadinejad's administration's legacy at Iran's Energy ministry is some $12 billion of debt (based on the official rate of 24, 807 rials per each USD), Khabar Online News Portal reported.

Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahamadinejad's administration's legacy at Iran's Energy ministry is some $12 billion of debt (based on the official rate of 24, 807 rials per each USD), Khabar Online News Portal reported.

The Ministry's debts to the private sector and banks stand at some $4 billion, former Energy Minister, Majid Namjou said.

According to the report, the Iran Power Generation Transmission & Distribution Management Company (TAVANIR), which is one of the Energy ministry companies, owes some $6.5 billion to its contractors.

By adding the Ministry's debts to water contractors, the total debts of Energy Ministry reaches $12 billion, which is three fold more than former Minister's claimed figure.
