Some 25 million tons of Azerbaijani oil transported via BTC since early 2013

By Emil Ismayilov - Trend: The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 24.94 million tons of Azerbaijani oil in January-October 2013 compared to 25.09 million tons in January-October 2012, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) said today.

In 2012, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) transported 29.67 million tons of the Azerbaijani oil compared to over 32.2 million tons in 2011.

As of November 1, 2013, about 230.4 million tons of oil was transported via BTC since its commissioning.

The Turkish port of Ceyhan shipped 24.36 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world markets in January-October compared to 24.44 million tons in January-October 2012. So far, as of November 1, 2013, the port shipped 228.02 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world markets.

In 2012, the Turkish port of Ceyhan shipped 29.3 million tons of Azerbaijani oil to the world markets compared to over 32.08 million tons in 2011.

The total length of BТС is 1.768 kilometres including the 443 kilometre section running via Azerbaijan, the 249 kilometre section via Georgia and the 1.076 kilometre via Turkey. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders include BP (30.1per cent); AzBTC (25 per cent); Chevron (8.90 per cent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 per cent); ТРАО (6.53 per cent); Eni (5 per cent); Total (5 per cent); Itochu (3.40 per cent); Inpex (2.50 per cent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 per cent) and ONGC (2.36 per cent).
