Wind power stations are to be built in Georgia, candidate for the post of Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said in the parliament on Tuesday.
According to him, work on the wind station project has already begun. Implementation and construction will begin in the coming months.
According to Kaladze, a tower equipped with special devices that provides accurate data on the strength of the wind has been installed. "This will be the first project of the 20 MW wind power stations. However there is a prospect and possibility of building another 150 MW wind power station."
"Unfortunately, Georgia is dependent on foreign energy sources, especially from Azerbaijan and Russia to 75 per cent, but we have a real opportunity and resources to become energy independent in the near future and these resources will be used," Kaladze added.
