By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: Kazakh Ozenmunaigas used horizontal drilling technology at Uzen field in the Kazakh Mangistau region for the first time, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported on Dec. 23 with reference to KazMunaiGas Exploration Production.
The project was developed and implemented by the Engineering Center under KazMunaiGas Exploration Production in cooperation with Ozenmunaigas' geology and exploration experts.
The drilling works started on Sep. 26 and oil started spurting out from the well on November 11.
Now three horizontal wells are successfully operating in the field.
KazMunaiGas Exploration Production plans to use horizontal drilling technology in other fields if necessary.
KMG EP is among the top three Kazakh oil and gas producers. The company's total consolidated volume of proved and probable reserves including shares in the associates, as at the end of 2012 was 204 million tons (1.5 billion barrels), out of which 148 million tons (1.1 billion barrels) relates to Ozenmunaigas and Embamunaigas.
