Kazakh association KazEnergy has approved a preliminary version of its development strategy for 2014-2018, board Chairman Timur Kulibayev said during the 16th meeting of the association on Jan.31.
"Whilst developing a strategy for the next five years, the experience of the Norwegian Oil Industry Association and medium term development model for five years was taken as a basis," executive director of the association, Rustam Zhursunov said.
"Improving the regulation of the fuel energy complex, geological exploration, technical regulation and sectorial statistics, as well as international cooperation are among the key areas of the strategy," he said.
"Special attention will be paid to the technical development of Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector," Kulibayev added.
"The association will develop the so-called 'Roadmap of technical development of the extractive sector'," he said. "It will include 15 priorities. In this regard, an important point is to establish a special fund for research and development design work."
Kulibayev also paid attention to the topicality of development of human capital in the association's activity.
"KazEnergy Association is to initiate the creation of a special training fund. It is necessary to work out systemic approaches to prepare our human resources for the fuel and energy complex. Funds are there, but they should be spent effectively. We need normal training centres and programmes for training specialists for the industry," Kulibayev said.
KazEnergy Association was founded on November 2, 2005 and is an independent non-profit voluntary association of legal entities, designed to assist in the creation of favourable conditions for the rapid and sustainable development of the fuel and energy complex of Kazakhstan.
The association should become a single 'information harbour' for the oil and gas industry workers, other subsoil users and transporters, as well as a wide range of users and consumers of goods and services of the oil and gas and energy complex.
KazEnergy Association brings together more than 50 major players in the oil and gas and energy complexes, including mining and transport, service and geophysical, uranium and other multinational companies.
