The work has started in Azerbaijan as part of preparation of the national program for the rational use of energy resources in the country for 2014-2020, according to Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev's article published in Azerbaijan newspaper.
"There is a need to prepare the National Program for the Rational Use of Natural Resources of Azerbaijan (2014-2020) to maintain consistency and focus of the work conducted to ensure the rational use of energy resources," according to the article.
The author stressed that the preparation of such a program is relevant amid rising energy demand and world energy prices.
Preliminary work is being done to start the program. The ministry has already sent an appeal to the relevant organizations to establish a working group, according to the article.
The proven gas reserves in Azerbaijan are estimated at 2.55 trillion cubic meters, and oil reserves at two billion tons. The projected gas reserves in Azerbaijan are estimated at six trillion cubic meters and projected oil reserves at four billion tons.
