Turkey increases imports and consumption of gas

Turkish state-owned pipeline company Botas imported 11.46 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in the first quarter of 2014, according to the company's message.

Turkish state-owned pipeline company Botas imported 11.46 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in the first quarter of 2014, according to the company's message.

This figure stood at 9.71 billion cubic meters in January-March, 2013.

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is delivered via the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).

In 2013, Botas' imports from various sources totalled 38.42 billion cubic meters of gas versus 43.09 billion cubic meters in 2012.

Aside from that, some 193 million cubic meters of gas accounted for Botas' exports in January-March, versus 128 million cubic meters in January-March, 2013.

Some 694 million cubic meters of gas accounted for the company's exports in 2013, versus 622 million cubic meters in 2012.

Botas said some 11.85 billion cubic meters of gas was sold in January-March in Turkish market, compared to 11.2 billion cubic meters in January-March, 2013.

Last year, this figure exceeded 37.96 billion cubic meters of gas, versus about 41.44 billion cubic meters in 2012.
