Oil transportation increases via BTC through Turkey

Around 65.34 million barrels of oil were transported in January-March 2014, via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline through Turkey compared to 60.87 million barrels in January-March 2013, the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas reported on May 7.

In total, 249.62 million barrels of oil were transported via BTC through Turkey in 2013 compared to 250.34 million barrels in 2012.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1768 kilometres, some 443 kilometres of which runs through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometres through Georgia and 1076 kilometres through Turkey.

Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.
Stockholders of BTC Co. established on August 1, 2002, are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).

About 14.94 million barrels of oil were transported in January-March via the Iraq-Turkey pipeline through Turkey compared to 26.32 million barrels in January-March 2013.

Some 91.88 million barrels were transported via the pipeline in 2013 compared to 145.63 million barrels in 2012.

About 6 million barrels of oil were transported via the Ceyhan-Kirikkale pipeline through Turkey's territory in January-March compared to 4.44 million barrels in January-March 2013. In total, 23.74 million barrels of oil were transported via the Ceyhan-Kirikkale pipeline in 2013 compared to 21.96 million barrels in 2012.

Some 3.23 million barrels of oil were transported in January-March via the Batman-Dordyol pipeline compared to 2.7 million barrels in January-March 2013.

Some 11.57 million barrels of oil were transported via the Batman-Dordyol pipeline in 2013 compared to 11.25 million barrels of oil in 2012.
