Georgia continues to build main natural gas pipeline

The construction work on the 20-kilometer site of the main "Gori-Kareli" gas pipeline continues.

Some 43 percent of the work, including removal of fertile soil layer, welding pipes, insulation, trenching, hydrotesting, restoring of fertile soil layer, etc. have already been carried out, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation told Trend.

The construction of the "Gori-Kareli" section is being carried out within the fourth phase of the rehabilitation project of the East-West main gas pipeline and is financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The contract amounts to about $3,889 692. The construction work is carried by the Turkish AHM ENERGY GAS HEATING SYSTEMS CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. TIC. LTD. STI., which is the winner of the international tender.

The completion of the work is scheduled for October.
Today, "Oil and Gas Corporation of Georgia" implements 4 projects related to gas pipeline construction.

In parallel to the "Gori-Kareli" section, the work is being carried out on the 23-kilometer stretch of the "Zestafoni-Kutaisi," the 25-kilometer stretch of "Rustavi Sagaredzho" and a 24-kilometer stretch of the "Red Bridge-Marneuli".
