Creation of free industrial area in Georgia postponed

Tbilisi, Georgia, Dec. 5

By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend:

The creation of the Kulevi free industrial area on the Black Sea coast of Georgia, near the port of Poti, was postponed for two years.

In particular, the Georgian government's decree, dated Sept. 12, 2012, was amended. Under the amendments the deadline for commencement of the Kulevi industrial area's operation was moved to Sept. 1, 2016 instead of Sept. 1, 2014.

'SOCAR Georgia Investments' company executes the powers of the organizer/administrator of the industrial area.

In order to commence the area's operation, the organizer/administrator should no later than Dec. 1, 2015 develop a plan on regulating the development of the industrial zone and submit it to the Ministry of Economy.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) has its terminal in Kulevi.
