By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's Tabriz Refinery has increased its euro-4 gasoline output to 1 million liters per day.

Siroos Azizi, an official with the Tabriz Refinery, said that the euro-4 gasoline output was increased from 700,000 liters per day to 1 million liters per day to meet demands of travelers during the Iranian New Year holidays, which starts on March 21, Iran's Shana news agency reported on March 8.

He added that the refinery produced 177.37 million liters of euro-4 gasoline from the 4th Iranian calendar month of Tir (started June 22, 2014) till the 11th calendar month of Bahman (ended February 19, 2015).

Some 30 percent of gasoline which is sold in Iran's market meets euro-4 standards, said Naser Sajjadi, managing director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company.

Sajjadi said 18-20 million liters of euro-4 gasoline is being supplied to the market per day.

Currently, euro-4 gasoline is being supplied to four cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Arak, and Karaj, he said, adding that euro-4 gasoline will be supplied to eight big cities by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20).

Euro-4 is a globally-accepted European emission standard for the production of vehicle fuel with significantly low amounts of sulfur.
