The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan has started to drill a new well as part of expanding the capacity of the underground gas storage, the message posted on the company's website said.
The depth of the well that is being drilled at Garadagh underground gas storage is 3,100 meters, according to SOCAR.
"It is planned to pump 100,000 cubic meters of gas into the well per day after putting it into operation," said the company.
In order to increase the volume of pumping and storage of gas in underground storages of Azerbaijan, it is planned to drill over 20 new wells within several years.
The capacity of SOCAR's gas storages exceeds 3.5 billion cubic meters.
