Turkmen refinery increases gasoline production

The volume of gasoline production at the largest refinery in Turkmenbashi city of Turkmenistan exceeded 628,400 metric tons in the first four months of 2015, the country's Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources said May 28.

It is 7.2 percent ahead of the planned volume.

During the reporting period, the enterprise was also successful in the production of diesel fuel, kerosene and polypropylene.

With the investments of several European and Asian banks, over $1.6 billion worth reconstruction work was carried out at this largest refinery of Turkmenistan in recent years. Contractual work was carried out by the companies of Japan, Turkey, France, Germany, Israel, Iran and others.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the capacity of the oil refining sector to 20 million metric tons of oil by 2020, 22 million metric tons - 2025 and 30 million metric tons by 2030.

Currently, the country produces around 10 million metric tons of oil per year and the considerable part of this volume is refined at the local enterprises.
