Azerbaijan's Dede Gorgud floating semisubmersible drilling rig is currently being repaired at the Baku Shipyard, a source on the country's oil and gas market told Trend May 29.
The first diesel generator has been jacked up to this rig.
The source said that four generators will be installed on the platform.
"The first diesel generator has been jacked up to the platform today," the source said. "In general, four diesel generators will be installed. This was the main purpose of upgrading the Dede Gorgud rig. The rest equipment was also changed. In the following days, all generators must be jacked up to the platform. Afterwards, their placement, mounting and testing will begin."
It was earlier reported that Dede Gorgud floating semisubmersible drilling rig would be sent to the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields after the repair.
Caspian Drilling Company (92.44-percent share is owned by SOCAR) is the operator of Dede Gorgud floating semisubmersible drilling rig.
