Iran urges Algeria to cooperate in stabilizing oil price

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran urged Algeria's cooperation in energy markets as a means to stabilize the price of oil.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with his Algerian counterpart on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York on Oct. 1, discussing ways to cooperate for resolving regional crises, Iran's IRNA News agency reported Oct. 2.

Zarif and Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra discussed different issues, especially the Mina disaster which claimed lives of thousands of pilgrims.

They also exchanged views on the Syria and Yemen crises and called for all-out cooperation to bring peace and stability to the countries.

The price of oil has fallen from $108 in the second half of the past year to less than $50. Meanwhile, OPEC has increased output to 31.5 million barrels per day, while the market's need of OPEC oil is around 29.3 million barrels per day.
