Azerbaijan reduces oil supply via BTC

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 21.6 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil in January-September 2015, or 1.3 percent less compared to the same period of 2014 (21.84 million tons), SOCAR said Oct. 7.

Besides Azerbaijani oil, the pipeline also transports oil from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan.
BTC transported 359,900 metric tons of Kazakh and Turkmen oil in September 2015, according to the statement.

Around 28.51 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil was transported via BTC in 2014, compared to 29.7 million tons in 2013.

In total, 285.42 million metric tons of oil have been transported via the oil pipeline since being commissioned.

Some 21.68 million metric tons of oil were loaded from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets in January-September 2015 compared to 22.13 million metric tons in the same period of 2014.

Some 29.1 million metric tons of oil were loaded from the Turkish port of Ceyhan to the world markets in 2014 compared to 29.2 million metric tons in 2013.

As of October 1, 2015, some 283.62 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil have been loaded from Ceyhan to the world markets since the commissioning of BTC pipeline.

The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443 kilometer-long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
