Iran produces 110 bcm of sweet gas in 8 months

Iran has produced 110 billion cubic meters (bcm) of sweet gas during eight months of the current Iranian fiscal year, which started on March 21, 2015.

Director for Operations at the National Iranian Gas Company Abdolhossein Samari announced on Dec.15 that sweet gas production increased by 5 bcm during 8 months year-to-year, Shana news agency reported.

Iran produced 1.804 tons of LPG and one billion ton of ethane during this period, showing a 53 percent and 5 percent growth respectively.

Iran produced 202 billion cubic meters of enriched gas during last year, while the total gas consumption stood at 190 billion cubic meters last year.

Iran plans to boost its gas output to 1 billion cubic meters per day within the next 2 years. The country's current enriched gas output capacity stands at about 700 million cubic meters per day. The country's sweet gas production capacity is 550 mcm/d.
